Let’s Eat (Netflix)

This Netflix summary is one of the few I won’t challenge and don’t have much to add to. How did this K-drama that left a bad taste in my mouth go on to have two more seasons?

I watched Let’s Eat on the recommendation of my sister-friend and her husband. They’d seen it before and suggested we watch it together when I was visiting them a couple of weeks ago. This is only the second K-drama that I would flat out say I didn’t care for. IMHO there was only one likable character—Koo Dae-Young, played by Yoon Doo-Joon. The lead female character was whiny and rude most of the time and didn’t redeem herself until the last few episodes but it was kinda too late. All the other characters were basically caricatures and so over-the-top. As we were watching my friends couldn’t remember why they liked it the first time. They chalked it up to being early in their K-drama viewing days.

If you like Korean food or want to learn about Korean food Let’s Eat does have that going for it. The descriptions of food as seen through Dae-Young’s eyes should make you stop and really appreciate the dishes. There are actually three seasons of Let’s Eat. Yoon Doo-Joon is the only returning actor so because Koo Dae-Young is the one character I liked, maybe I’ll get around to checking out season two, but I won’t keep watching past the first episode if it feels like the first season.

If you like mystery, there is a storyline that keeps you on your toes trying to figure out “whodunit” but for me, it doesn’t redeem the rest of the show.

Three seasons means this K-drama must’ve been somewhat successful, so if you liked Let’s Eat, tell me why in the comments. Meanwhile, all the actors have done numerous projects so maybe you’ve seen them in something else?
